Wii U NAND failures responsible due to a certain NAND chip manufacturer
NintendoSoup's article on the whole scenario
Earlier this month, many Wii U owners have reported that their Wii U consoles ended up failing on them after years of not being used. It has now been revealed that these recent Wii U "bricks" or failures have been caused by a certain NAND chip manufacturer, namely Hynix, whose NAND chips are more likely to fail sooner than those from Samsung and Toshiba.
If you have a hacked or CFW'ed Wii U, you can use MDInfo to check which NAND chip your Wii U console has. I checked my Wii U and it has a Toshiba NAND chip, so my Wii U and I should be good in the foreseeable future.

What year or time frame did you purchase your Wii U? I hate to think my Wii U in storage is just bricking right now.

Since you asked, the Wii U I currently have was gifted to me back in Christmas of 2014. I keep mine plugged in and I still power it on regularly.Demon_skeith wrote: ↑March 25th, 2023, 2:00What year or time frame did you purchase your Wii U? I really should dig mine out and make sure it still boots up.
