I would have posted this topic of Mario's latest 2D adventure on the day of its reveal in the recent Nintendo Direct, but Altador Cup shenanigans back on Neopets got in the way.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder gets released on October 20th, 2023. Do you think this new 2D Mario title that drops the "New" from the title will be on par with well-acclaimed legacy 2D Mario games like Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World or not? I may pre-order this one, but I'll be busy with my Halloween festivities if I do plan on pre-ordering a copy.

Late reply, but I hope that Super Mario Maker 3 will provide all the works essential for those wanting to make Super Mario Bros. Wonder-styled stages of their dreams. Maybe someday it'll happen.

If you think it's pointless to buy Super Mario Bros. Wonder since people can just recreate or do remixes of the levels on Super Mario Maker 1 and/or 2 to the best of their ability if not make better and more creative levels than the Nintendo devs themselves which basically kills the need of an official new 2D Mario game, I fully respect your opinion 100%. Professional ROM hackers that have pushed the hacking potential of Super Mario World among other legacy Mario games beyond its limits can do one better anyway. I am just going to move on.

In other news, don't expect this game to be easy as per Zippo (minor spoilers ahead, so heads up). Expect this game to be tougher than other recent Mario titles. I'm not expecting a Kaizo hard product from Nintendo themselves, but one hard enough to either punish casual players or give trained Mario veterans a worthy challenge.

To be fair for beginners Super Mario 3 was really hard so I'm expecting that but a Switch rendition with more nuanced mechanics and challenges.

which really makes me surprised they made another 2D mario, thought for sure they just keep with the mario maker series.
