The cheapest 3DS strategy game of ALL TIME (that's good)).

Cheer Codename S.T.E.A.M.

You know, the 3DS era was something. There were a lot of fun officially licensed games on the 3DS by Nintendo. Kirby, Fire Emblem, Smash, Mario, Yoshi, Zelda, etc. However, for a new IP to hit the 3DS like how Splatoon was on the Wii U, it's ironic. How one series is so big on the Switch, and then the other just flopped. Rusty Slugger's Real Deal Baseball! Oh, wait, wrong game. Codename STEAM! Right off the bat, the game says that it was made by Intelligent Systems. The opening includes a Marth amiibo in low res (which I have a Powertag to test later for). The game itself takes place in 1865. You are set up in London, with a steampunk vibe with blimps, machinery, and industry. You end up fighting aliens after some comic book story directives. Then guess what, the prologue is done and you meet John Henry. The most American thing ever. I clearly should have played it on July 4th. Anyway, the gameplay is very unique- A third-person strategy shooter. You have limited steam to spend on ammo and movement. There are items and cover areas to hide from enemies. You approach enemies first to shoot them, and others you hide from and counterattack when they are in range. Then you get to a goal or finish the win condition. I know the game needs to be updated and the 3DS eShop is down, but I had CFW so that wasn't an issue. For it being $4.99 at a resale store I would imagine this game was very common, and on the other end, it wasn't popular. However, it still functions. There's multiplayer, and amiibo support, so what more could I ask for?

On another note, I can't change the text in-game from Japanese because of the console, so I had to listen to everything and read menus/manuals online if I needed to. Because all the audio is ONLY in English.

I cannot give a full review yet, but it looks like a must-play for anyone who can update it on their system and emulate amiibo. Y'all are sleeping on this one!

You have to know where to look. There were at least a couple of loose copies at the resale store where I was. For as cheap as it was it should be an easier find. I know I always like to look online for any game and see who's selling. I got the impression that this is something people are willing to get rid of.
